Introducting Lovely Little Lettering

Hand lettering is a growing trend and one of my favorite things to do. I’ve been working as a letterer semi-professionally for about 5 years now.

I am proud to announce a new series that will begin this coming week, lovely little lettering, a how to hand letter guide.

Why learn with me? There are a lot of existing resources out there for you to browse, but hardly any system is 100% free, like lovely little lettering. I do not plan to charge for access to any instruction, worksheets, or videos. That’s right, you’re getting me for free. As a mostly self-taught letterer, I have some unique insights to help you as you begin in this exciting journey.

I will publish installments of step-by-step instructions to help you as you learn this exciting and rewarding craft. In addition, I have created easy-to-follow worksheets for tracing and practice. I will also occasionally provide videos to specifically address a difficult concept. As an educator by trade, I value the importance of quality, specific instruction.

Honestly, becoming a proficient hand-letterer is not going to happen in one day. It took me five years to feel confident enough to even call myself an artist. As we go through this journey together, I plan to share work from my early years compared to now, to comment on what I have learned and changed as I grew in confidence as an artist.

Feel free to let me know what questions you have about hand lettering as we go along, because I would love to address specific questions.

You can get a head start on this coming week’s how-to guide by making sure you have all of your materials. You will need a brush tip pen. I would highly recommend the Pentel Fude Touch Sign Pen or the Tombow Fude Brush Tip Pen. To read a review of a few brush tip pens I have tried, click here

Check back on Monday for our first installment.

For now, have a lovely little day!
