Here’s a little secret about me: I started listening to Christmas music in September… If you know me well, that shouldn’t really come as a surprise. I. LOVE. CHRISTMAS. There are quite a few reasons I am so in love with this Holiday: Celebrating the birth of our Savior, enjoying family time, cozy evenings, and adorably whimsical Holiday decorations.
There are very few things that say “Whimsical Christmas” quite like the Nutcracker. There’s the costumes, the storyline, and the incredible music. (Music nerd alert: Tchaikovsky is my #1 favorite. I don’t even have to look up how to spell his name, that’s how much I love him).
I grew up watching the New York City Ballet’s 1993 film (You can actually rent the movie on Youtube, if you are interested). When I was about 8 years old my grandma gave me the book adaptation with incredible pictures from the film, which was *well* loved over the years, and is still a favorite (It is out of print now). I would spend hours drawing the dancers and their breathtaking costumes. My two favorites to draw as a little girl were the flowers and the snowflakes:
Look at those beautiful tiered tutus on the flowers, and those SNOWFLAKES. Ugh. So magical!
I had too much fun making these prints. Click here to download and print these, sized at 4 x 6.
